Access Pro Bono’s (APB) Employment Standards Program

Access Pro Bono’s (APB) Employment Standards Program provides free legal representation by volunteer lawyers and law students to low income employees or former employees appearing before the Employment Standards Branch and the Employment Standards Tribunal (e.g. vacation pay, termination pay, overtime, statutory holiday pay, etc.), and also accepts referrals for employees looking for assistance with the Self Help Kit. The Employment Standards Program accepts clients from across the province, so potential clients do not need to be located in Vancouver/Lower Mainland. Legal representation is contingent on eligibility for Access Pro Bono’s services, a merit assessment of the case, and volunteers’ availability.

Contact APB’s Employment Standards Program by email at esp@accessprobono.ca or by phone at 604.482.3195 ext. 1500. Allow up to 2 business days for a call back, and indicate in your message your name, contact information, and your hearing date if one has been set.

The Employment Standards Program only accepts clients whose legal issues fall under the Employment Standards Act (ESA), but if you have questions about wrongful dismissal or other employment law issues that don’t fall under the ESA, contact our Summary Advice Program at 1-877-762-6664 to inquire about a free 30-min legal advice appointment with a lawyer with expertise in that area.
